How do I connect my mini split to WiFi?

Modified on Thu, 8 Oct at 1:43 PM

Short answer: first check which WiFi kit you have, because each kit works with only one app. Then put the unit in AP mode (press the LED button on the remote 7 times) and add it in that app. You need a 2.4 GHz WiFi network; 5 GHz will not work.

Step 1: Which kit do you have?

The two kits are not interchangeable. The included Alexa kit will not pair with the Senville app. To use the Senville app, you need the OSK102 kit.

Ceiling cassette, concealed duct and floor/ceiling units can also use WiFi, but no kit is included. Each indoor unit needs one SENV-SP23 adaptor (product page) plus one WiFi kit. The adaptor plugs into the control board, so have your HVAC technician install it.

Step 2: Before you start

  • Your phone is on your home 2.4 GHz WiFi network (WPA or WPA2), with WiFi and Bluetooth on.
  • You know your WiFi password.
  • The unit is off.

Step 3: Set up the Senville Smart WiFi Kit (OSK102)

  1. Lift the front panel and push the kit firmly all the way into its USB slot. Keep the QR code that came with it, or take a photo of it.
  2. Download the Senville app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account and confirm it from the email you receive.
  3. Turn the unit on. Within 10 seconds, press the LED DISPLAY (or DO NOT DISTURB) button on the remote 7 times. The display shows AP.
  4. You now have 8 minutes. In the app, tap + Add Device, choose your unit type, then scan the QR code or enter your WiFi password manually.
  5. Follow the prompts. The unit appears in your device list when it is connected. If it shows offline, pull down to refresh or wait a few minutes.

If it won't connect

  • The unit beeps or never shows AP: the kit is not fully seated. Turn the unit off and push it in again.
  • Pairing fails: confirm the network is 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz. Many routers broadcast both under one name; use the 2.4 GHz one.
  • Wrong app: the Alexa kit only works with the Alexa app; the OSK102 only works with the Senville app.
  • Restart the unit and your phone, update the app, and start again from step 3.

Some functions (ECO, Swing, Turbo) depend on your model and may not appear in the app.

Still need help?

Submit a support ticket and include:

  • A screenshot of the error in the app
  • A photo of the kit installed in the unit
  • A photo of the model/serial label on the right side of the indoor unit (where to find it)
