How do I set up Alexa on my Senville mini split?

Modified on Thu, 8 Oct at 1:58 PM

Short answer: the WiFi kit included with Senville wall-mounted units works with the free Amazon Alexa app. You don't need an Echo or any Alexa device. Plug the kit into the indoor unit, press the LED button on the remote 7 times until the display shows AP, then add the unit in the Alexa app.

This kit does not work with the Senville app. If you have the Senville Smart WiFi Kit (OSK102), follow How do I connect my mini split to WiFi? instead.

Before you start

  • Your phone is on your home 2.4 GHz WiFi network (5 GHz won't work), with WiFi and Bluetooth on.
  • You have the QR code that came with the kit, or a photo of it.

Set up

  1. Download the Amazon Alexa app and sign in or create an account.
  2. With the unit off, insert the USB kit firmly and fully into its slot. LETO: lift the front panel; the slot is inside. AURA: the slot is inside the display box.
  3. Stick the QR code on the side of the unit, or keep a photo of it.
  4. Turn the unit on. Press the LED button on the remote 7 times until the display shows AP.
  5. In the Alexa app, tap Devices, then +, then Add Device. Choose Air Conditioner, then Senville, and follow the prompts.

In your device list the unit may appear as "Air Conditioner" or "Mini Split Heat Pump" rather than "Senville".
