Error Code: LC 06 – High Temperature Protection of Inverter Module (IPM)
What this means:
This error is triggered when the IPM module temperature exceeds safe limits. It’s designed to protect the inverter’s power electronics. The fault can be caused by poor ventilation, airflow blockage, incorrect wiring, or thermal contact failure.
Try this first (quick reset):
Turn off the power to the unit.
Wait at least 10 minutes for the system to cool.
Turn it back on and observe the display.
If the error clears — resume normal operation.
If it returns — proceed with the steps below.
Next steps (for technicians):
Check airflow for indoor and outdoor units:
If obstructed → clear inlets/outlets and clean heat exchangers.
Check compressor top temperature:
If > 90°C → proceed to refrigerant system check.
Check the refrigerant system:
If abnormal → repair the system.
If normal → continue to sensor and connection checks.
Inspect the OLP (Overload Protector) sensor wiring:
Ensure all wires are securely connected.
Measure OLP resistance:
If resistance ≠ 0 → replace the OLP sensor.
If resistance = 0 → replace the outdoor control PCB.
Check screws between PCB and IPM radiator:
If loose → tighten and apply silicon thermal grease.
If already tight → replace the outdoor PCB.
What you might need:
IPM module board
Outdoor PCB
OLP sensor
Connection wires
High pressure protector
Thermal grease
Cleaning tools
Helpful tip:
Overheating is often caused by dust buildup or poor thermal contact at the radiator. Always start with airflow and mechanical inspections before moving to PCB replacement.
