Error Code: LC 06 – High Temperature Protection of Inverter Module (IPM)
What this means:
This error indicates that the IPM (Intelligent Power Module) inside the outdoor unit has overheated beyond safe operating limits. The system shuts down to protect the module and prevent damage to surrounding components.
Try this first (quick reset):
Turn off the unit completely.
Wait 2 full minutes.
Turn the unit back on and check if the error clears.
If the error clears — the overheating may have been temporary.
If the error returns — follow the steps below.
Next steps (for technicians):
Inspect mounting of IPM module:
Check that the fastening screws on the PCB and IPM radiator are securely tightened.
If loose → tighten all screws and apply silicon thermal grease between the IPM and radiator.
Check for ventilation or airflow issues:
Ensure outdoor fan is operating and airflow is unobstructed.
Remove debris or dirt from the heat exchanger and surroundings.
If the IPM is properly mounted and heat is still excessive:
Replace the outdoor PCB or IPM module board, depending on model design.
What you might need:
IPM module board
Outdoor PCB
High-pressure protector
Connection wires
Silicon thermal grease
Helpful tip:
Overheating is often caused by poor heat transfer between the IPM and its radiator. Always ensure firm contact and proper thermal grease application during installation or repair.
