Understanding Error Codes
If your indoor or outdoor unit displays an error code (like EH 00 or PC 00), your system has detected an issue. Use the tables below to identify what the code means and how to address it.
Normal Display Codes (Not Errors)
Code | Meaning | Solution |
---|---|---|
dF | Defrost Mode | No action needed — normal operation |
CL | Filter Cleaning Reminder | Clean filters (displays 15 seconds at power-on) |
F (alternate) | Filter Replacement Reminder | Replace air filters (some models) |
FP | Low Temp Heating (below 8°C) | No action needed — normal operation |
FC | Forced Cooling | Manual override — ensure it’s not accidentally enabled |
AP | Wi-Fi AP Mode | System is in pairing mode — connect via Alexa app |
CP | Remote Turned Off Unit | No action needed — restart via remote if desired |
Indoor Unit Error Codes
Code | Issue | Solution |
---|---|---|
EH 00 | Indoor EEPROM malfunction | Replace indoor main PCB |
EH 0A | Indoor EEPROM parameter error | Reset or reprogram board; replace if needed |
EL 01 | Indoor & Outdoor communication error | Check wiring between IDU & ODU; inspect control board |
EH 02 | Zero-crossing signal detection error | Replace indoor PCB |
EH 03 | Indoor fan speed out of control | Inspect fan motor or control board |
EH 60 | Room temperature sensor (T1) error | Replace T1 sensor |
EH 61 | Pipe temperature sensor (T2) error | Replace T2 sensor |
EH 0 | Main & display board communication error | Check wiring or replace either board |
FH CC | Refrigerant sensor error | Replace sensor module |
EH C1 | Refrigerant leak detected | Leak test and recharge refrigerant |
EH C2 | Sensor out of range & leak detected | Replace sensor and repair refrigerant line |
EH C3 | Refrigerant sensor out of range | Replace sensor |
Outdoor Unit Error Codes
Code | Issue | Solution |
---|---|---|
EC 51 | ODU EEPROM parameter error | Replace or reprogram outdoor main board |
EC 52 | Coil temperature sensor (T3) error | Replace T3 sensor |
EC 53 | Ambient temperature sensor (T4) error | Replace T4 sensor |
EC 54 | Discharge temp sensor (TP) error | Replace TP sensor |
EC 56 | Indoor coil outlet sensor (T2B) error | Replace T2B sensor (multi-zone only) |
EC 07 | Outdoor fan speed out of control | Inspect or replace fan motor/control board |
EL 0C | System lacks refrigerant | Check for leaks and recharge system |
Protection Codes (System Safeguards)
Code | Issue | Solution |
---|---|---|
PC 00 | IPM module protection | Inspect IPM board and cooling conditions |
PC 01 | Voltage protection | Check power supply and voltage range |
PC 02 | Over-temp of compressor/IPM | Inspect ventilation, refrigerant flow, and clean coils |
PC 03 | High/low pressure protection | Check refrigerant pressure and blockage |
PC 04 | Inverter compressor drive error | Inspect drive board or compressor connection |
PC 06 | Compressor discharge temp too high | Clean coils, verify refrigerant, check airflow |
PC 08 | Overcurrent protection | Check current draw, fan resistance, and wiring |
PC 0A | Condenser high temp protection | Clean condenser and ensure airflow |
PC 0F | PFC module protection | Replace or test PFC circuit |
PC 10–12 | AC voltage/DC bus issues | Check capacitor, voltage source, and connections |
PC 30–31 | High/Low system pressure | Evaluate refrigerant charge and blockage |
PC 40–46 | Compressor control or signal issues | Inspect compressor, sensors, and PCBs |
LC 06 | IPM high temp protection | Improve cooling and ventilation |
PH 90/91 | Evaporator temp protection (high/low) | Ensure airflow is not blocked, clean filters |
Other Errors
- ---- – Conflicting modes on indoor units (multi-zone system)
- Garbled display – May be an undefined code or a temperature reading
Troubleshooting Tips
- Use the remote control to test unit response
- If unresponsive, the indoor PCB may need replacement
- If the display is faulty but unit works, the display board may need replacing
