Understanding Error Codes

If your indoor or outdoor unit displays an error code (like EH 00 or PC 00), your system has detected an issue. Use the tables below to identify what the code means and how to address it.

Normal Display Codes (Not Errors)

CodeMeaningSolution
dFDefrost ModeNo action needed — normal operation
CLFilter Cleaning ReminderClean filters (displays 15 seconds at power-on)
F (alternate)Filter Replacement ReminderReplace air filters (some models)
FPLow Temp Heating (below 8°C)No action needed — normal operation
FCForced CoolingManual override — ensure it’s not accidentally enabled
APWi-Fi AP ModeSystem is in pairing mode — connect via Alexa app
CPRemote Turned Off UnitNo action needed — restart via remote if desired

Indoor Unit Error Codes

CodeIssueSolution
EH 00Indoor EEPROM malfunctionReplace indoor main PCB
EH 0AIndoor EEPROM parameter errorReset or reprogram board; replace if needed
EL 01Indoor & Outdoor communication errorCheck wiring between IDU & ODU; inspect control board
EH 02Zero-crossing signal detection errorReplace indoor PCB
EH 03Indoor fan speed out of controlInspect fan motor or control board
EH 60Room temperature sensor (T1) errorReplace T1 sensor
EH 61Pipe temperature sensor (T2) errorReplace T2 sensor
EH 0Main & display board communication errorCheck wiring or replace either board
FH CCRefrigerant sensor errorReplace sensor module
EH C1Refrigerant leak detectedLeak test and recharge refrigerant
EH C2Sensor out of range & leak detectedReplace sensor and repair refrigerant line
EH C3Refrigerant sensor out of rangeReplace sensor

Outdoor Unit Error Codes

CodeIssueSolution
EC 51ODU EEPROM parameter errorReplace or reprogram outdoor main board
EC 52Coil temperature sensor (T3) errorReplace T3 sensor
EC 53Ambient temperature sensor (T4) errorReplace T4 sensor
EC 54Discharge temp sensor (TP) errorReplace TP sensor
EC 56Indoor coil outlet sensor (T2B) errorReplace T2B sensor (multi-zone only)
EC 07Outdoor fan speed out of controlInspect or replace fan motor/control board
EL 0CSystem lacks refrigerantCheck for leaks and recharge system

Protection Codes (System Safeguards)

CodeIssueSolution
PC 00IPM module protectionInspect IPM board and cooling conditions
PC 01Voltage protectionCheck power supply and voltage range
PC 02Over-temp of compressor/IPMInspect ventilation, refrigerant flow, and clean coils
PC 03High/low pressure protectionCheck refrigerant pressure and blockage
PC 04Inverter compressor drive errorInspect drive board or compressor connection
PC 06Compressor discharge temp too highClean coils, verify refrigerant, check airflow
PC 08Overcurrent protectionCheck current draw, fan resistance, and wiring
PC 0ACondenser high temp protectionClean condenser and ensure airflow
PC 0FPFC module protectionReplace or test PFC circuit
PC 10–12AC voltage/DC bus issuesCheck capacitor, voltage source, and connections
PC 30–31High/Low system pressureEvaluate refrigerant charge and blockage
PC 40–46Compressor control or signal issuesInspect compressor, sensors, and PCBs
LC 06IPM high temp protectionImprove cooling and ventilation
PH 90/91Evaporator temp protection (high/low)Ensure airflow is not blocked, clean filters

Other Errors

  • ---- – Conflicting modes on indoor units (multi-zone system)
  • Garbled display – May be an undefined code or a temperature reading

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Use the remote control to test unit response
  • If unresponsive, the indoor PCB may need replacement
  • If the display is faulty but unit works, the display board may need replacing
