Mode Conflict and Low Temperature Protection - LP & TS14

TS14 – Indoor Unit Mode Conflict (Multi-Zone Systems)

Description

When multiple indoor units are connected to a single outdoor unit, they must operate in the same mode (cooling or heating). If one unit is in cooling and another is set to heating, a conflict occurs. Heating mode takes priority.

How Conflicts Are Handled

  • If Unit A is cooling and Unit B is set to heating → Unit A turns off, Unit B operates in heating mode.
  • If Unit A is heating and Unit B is set to cooling or fan → Unit B enters standby, Unit A continues heating.

Note: “Yes” = Mode conflict; “No” = No conflict

Solution

  • Ensure all indoor units are set to the same mode (either cooling or heating).
  • If you need mixed zone temperatures, consider using separate outdoor units.

LP – Low Temperature Protection

Description

This is a safety feature that prevents damage to the outdoor unit in extreme cold. When the outdoor ambient temperature drops below specific limits, the system will stop and display the LP error code.

Trigger Conditions

  • If outdoor temp (T4) < -35°C for 10 seconds → system stops
  • When compressor is ON: If outdoor temp (T4) < -40°C for 10 seconds → system stops
  • Exit condition: If outdoor temp (T4) rises above -32°C for 10 seconds → system resumes

Solution

  • This is a built-in protection mechanism — no repairs are needed unless it activates frequently.
  • Consider installing a cold climate kit or backup heating if your region often drops below -35°C.
