Remote Control and Thermostat Operation Issues

Remote and Thermostat Operation (IR)

• The wall unit remote communicates with the thermostat via infrared (IR).
• The remote must be pointed at the thermostat for it to work.
• The remote works with a wired thermostat as long as the module is installed where the remote can communicate with it; IR requires line of sight, similar to a TV remote.

Thermostat Wiring Requirements

• The wires inside the thermostat box are not suitable for the described setup.
• Use or purchase an 18/2 thermostat wire.
• Connect the 18/2 wire from the HA and HB terminals on the back of the thermostat’s plastic cover to the HA and HB terminals on the indoor unit’s motherboard.
• The gray wire with the blue tag is only for an optional 5-pin thermostat sold separately.

Remote Control via Apps and Platform Compatibility (Senville mini splits)

• Senville mini split units can only be remotely controlled using the Amazon Alexa app or the Senville app on smartphones (Android and iOS).
• There is no web-based or Windows PC remote control solution for Senville mini splits.
• The Amazon Alexa app for Windows was discontinued in 2023.
• Neither the Senville app nor the Nethome Plus app is available for Windows.
• Honeywell wall thermostats are only compatible with Senville central units (not mini splits).

When to Contact a Technician

• For testing and further assistance, call 1-800-242-4935 (extension 3) to speak with a technician.
• Technicians can help run tests over the phone.
• In some cases, the technician may send a new USB WiFi dongle as a solution.
