Should I buy a multi-zone system or several single-zone units?

Multi-zone (one outdoor + several indoor heads)

Pros:

• Saves outdoor space

• Often more cost-effective for multiple rooms

• One condenser to maintain

Cons:

• If the outdoor unit fails, all rooms lose heating/cooling

• All rooms must be in the same mode (heating OR cooling)

Multiple single-zone systems

Pros:

• Full independence per room

• If one fails, the others still work

• More flexible control

Cons:

• Higher total installation cost

• Requires more outdoor space
