Short answer: most cases are fixed by checking the mode, cleaning the filters and resetting the power. If the unit runs but blows room-temperature air, or shows an error code, see steps 5 to 7.
1. Check the mode and set temperature
- COOL (snowflake) or HEAT (sun). In FAN or DRY mode the unit will not cool or heat.
- Set the temperature at least 3–5°F (2–3°C) below the room temperature for cooling, or above it for heating.
- Raise the fan speed if it is on LOW.
2. Clean the filters
Lift the front panel, take out the filters, rinse them in lukewarm water and let them dry fully before putting them back. Clean them every 2–4 weeks. A blocked filter is the most common cause of weak cooling or heating.
3. Reset the system
Switch the breaker OFF for at least 30 minutes, then back ON, and set the mode again.
4. Check the outdoor unit
After 5–10 minutes of running, the outdoor fan should be spinning. Clear any leaves, snow or objects around it.
5. Ice on the unit
- Ice on the indoor unit (cooling): turn the unit off and let it thaw completely. Then see Why is my indoor unit freezing?
- Indoor unit stops blowing warm air for a few minutes in cold weather (heating): this is the normal defrost cycle. Wait 10 minutes.
6. Error code or flashing lights
The unit has stopped itself to protect against a fault. Look up the code: AURA series error codes, LETO series error codes, or all error code articles.
7. Runs but doesn't cool or heat at all
This can mean low refrigerant or an installation problem. It is not a DIY fix: a licensed HVAC technician needs to check it.
Still need help?
Submit a support ticket and include:
- The results of the checks above
- A photo of any error code on the display
- A short video of the indoor and outdoor units while running
- A photo of the model/serial label on the right side of the indoor unit (where to find it)
