Short answer: Senville line sets come in 16 ft (included with every new system), 25 ft and 50 ft lengths. The pipe size you need depends on your unit's BTU capacity, not on the length.
Which pipe size do I need?
| Unit size | Liquid line | Suction line | Senville line set |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6,000 to 12,000 BTU | 1/4" | 3/8" | PJX-1 |
| 18,000 BTU | 1/4" | 1/2" | PJX-2 |
| 24,000 to 36,000 BTU | 3/8" | 5/8" | PJX-3 |
| 33,000 BTU and central systems | 3/8" | 3/4" | 16 ft or 50 ft |
The BTU size is in your model number: 09 = 9,000, 12 = 12,000, 18 = 18,000 and so on. For flare sizes by model, see How to choose the right line set for your Senville system.
Lengths
- Line sets are sold in 16 ft, 25 ft and 50 ft lengths only. Custom lengths and kits with mixed lengths aren't available.
- 25 ft and 50 ft kits include a communication cable of the same length.
- Need more length? A licensed technician can join line sets with brass unions.
- Minimum recommended length: 10 ft.
- Your outdoor unit is pre-charged for a set length of line. Longer runs need extra refrigerant, added by a licensed technician. See Are Senville mini splits pre-charged?
Can line sets be shortened or joined?
Yes, but only by a licensed HVAC technician. A poorly cut, flared or joined line is a common cause of refrigerant leaks.
Can I use another brand's line set?
Yes, as long as it is copper, properly insulated, the correct size for your unit, and not pre-charged.
Why uncharged line sets?
| Uncharged (Senville) | Pre-charged (quick connect) | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Can be cut to fit | Fixed length |
| Refrigerant charge | Set precisely for your installation | Fixed |
| Leak risk | Lower when installed correctly | Higher at the quick connectors |
| Installation | Licensed technician required | Often marketed as DIY |
