Why can a multi-zone system support more BTUs than the condenser size?

Multi-zone systems rarely use full capacity in all rooms at once.
The condenser modulates output based on demand.

Approx cooling/heating capacity:

  • 18 → 28k / 27k

  • 28k → 37k / 36k

  • 36k → 43k / 44k

  • 48k → 57k / 57k
