Error Code: PC 02 – Compressor Top (or IPM) Temperature Protection
What this means:
This error occurs when the temperature of the compressor top or the IPM module exceeds a safe limit. The system monitors this through the Overload Protector (OLP) or IPM sensor, and shuts down to prevent damage if the signal is abnormal or the temperature is too high.
Try this first (quick reset):
Turn off the power supply to the system.
Wait 10 minutes.
Turn the unit back on and check if the error clears.
If the error clears — the issue may have been temporary overheating.
If the error remains — continue diagnostics.
Next steps (for technicians):
Check airflow system of indoor and outdoor units:
Is there blockage at the air inlets/outlets or heat exchangers?
If yes → clear the airflow paths.
Measure compressor top temperature:
If temperature is above 90°C → check the refrigerant system for issues.
If not → proceed to sensor and PCB checks.
Inspect the OLP sensor wiring:
Make sure all connectors, especially for the OLP, are secure.
If loose → correct the connection.
Measure OLP sensor resistance:
If resistance ≠ 0 → replace the OLP sensor.
If resistance = 0 → replace the outdoor PCB.
Check PCB installation:
Inspect screws on the IPM radiator and PCB.
If loose → tighten and apply thermal grease.
If tight and issue persists → replace the outdoor PCB.
What you might need:
IPM module board
Outdoor PCB
Overload protector (OLP)
High pressure protector
System blockage clearing tools
Connection wires
Thermal grease
Helpful tip:
Loose screws on the IPM radiator can disrupt heat dissipation, causing this fault. Always confirm secure mounting and proper thermal contact.
