An E1 error code indicates that is a communication issue between the indoor and outdoor units. This occurs either when one of the boards malfunctions or when the communication wiring between the indoor and outdoor unit has been connected incorrectly.
You can refer to this guide in our FAQ section on how to properly wire the indoor and outdoor units. If the units have been wired correctly, then in order to identify which board is malfunctioning, you can review the attached PDF on how to test out the boards.
