Error Code: PC 08 – Outdoor Overcurrent Protection
What this means:
This error indicates that the outdoor unit has detected an abnormal spike in electrical current through the compressor or inverter drive circuit. This could result from electrical faults, poor ventilation, refrigerant imbalance, or component failureTS19.
Try this first (quick reset):
Turn off power to the unit.
Wait at least 2 minutes.
Turn the unit back on and observe the display.
If the error clears — monitor the system.
If it returns — proceed to deeper diagnosis.
Next steps (for technicians):
Check if protection was triggered in standby mode:
If yes → replace the outdoor main PCB.
Verify power voltage (L–N, P–N):
If not normal →
Reconnect or repair power wiring.
Replace the bridge rectifier or PFC module, as needed.
Inspect bridge rectifier wiring and function:
If wiring or output is incorrect → repair or replace.
Check the reactor or inductance module:
Reconnect wiring if loose.
Replace the reactor if it is not functioning properly.
Evaluate ambient temperature and ventilation:
If ambient temperature > 50°C → stop the unit and allow to cool.
Ensure the outdoor fan is running properly.
Clean the heat exchanger if dirty.
Check system pressure:
If overcharged → recycle excess refrigerant.
If all else fails:
Replace the outdoor main PCB.
What you might need:
Outdoor PCB
Bridge rectifier
PFC module or reactor
Refrigeration piping tools
Pressure switch
Outdoor fan assembly
IPM module board
Connection wires
Helpful tip:
Many PC 08 faults result from blocked airflow or improperly wired power components. Always verify electrical and cooling conditions before replacing major parts.
