Error Code: PC 00 – IPM Module Protection
What this means:
This error occurs when the voltage signal sent from the IPM (Intelligent Power Module) to the compressor drive chip is abnormal. As a safety measure, the system shuts down to prevent component failure.
Try this first (quick reset):
Turn off power to the unit completely.
Wait 2 full minutes.
Turn the unit back on and check if the error clears.
If the error clears — the fault may have been temporary.
If it remains — proceed with the steps below.
Next steps (for technicians):
Initial resistance test:
Measure resistance between U–V, U–W, and V–W at the IPM ports and P–N.
If any reading is 0 or close to 0 → the IPM board is defective and must be replaced.
Verify input voltages and wiring:
Confirm proper voltage between L and N, P and N, and at the bridge rectifier.
If abnormal, check:
Power supply wiring
Bridge rectifier condition and wiring
Reactor or inductance wiring and function
Check ventilation and fan performance:
Make sure the outdoor fan is running properly and the unit is ventilated.
If fan is not working → refer to EC 07/EC 71 fan diagnostics.
Confirm component connections:
Ensure all wiring between main PCB and IPM, and between compressor and IPM, is tight and correct.
Component replacement (in this order):
IPM module board
Outdoor PCB
Compressor (if all else fails)
What you might need:
IPM module board
Outdoor PCB
Compressor
Reactor or inductance
Bridge rectifier
Outdoor fan assembly
Connection wires
Helpful tip:
Most PC 00 errors are caused by IPM board failure or wiring issues at the bridge rectifier and reactor. Start with resistance checks before replacing hardware.
